Generic Comparative Analysis Matrix (GCAM)
Review all of the dirty work that The Commish team has done for you as part of our Generic Comparative Analysis Matrix
(GCAM). In a nutshell, it’s like the value based tools you've seen on other sites...only on steroids.
1. Review last year’s stats for the projected 2026 starters.
2. Take into account last year’s strength of schedule.
3. Preview this year’s strength of schedule.
4. Look at how players performed on a Per Game Basis.
5. Review each player’s Median and Average Fantasy Point Totals.
6. Review which players ended the 2025 season on a high note.
7. Take note of which players struggled at the end of the 2025 season.
8. Look back at the players who celebrated the best individual performances of the year.
9. Extrapolate each player’s Per Game Average to see what he is capable of doing over the course of an entire season.
10. Compare each player’s 2025 stats when posed against an equalized set of competition to other players at the same position.
11. Translate each player’s 2025 per game stats to the competition they face in 2026.
This process concludes with the presentation of The Commish’s very own Generic Comparative Analysis Matrix (GCAM) for each
position. The GCAM will present you with a breakdown of each fantasy player’s stats for the past three years, and factors in their
projected stats for 2026. A secondary chart provides a scoring breakdown of how the top fantasy performers have done over the
course of the past three seasons.
Taken together, these charts not only provide a logical projection for where each player will finish the 2026 season, but they also
work together to help assess each player’s value in relation to his peers. And, of course, it gives you a definitive edge over your
peers!
How do I comprehend the tables on the following pages, Commish?
The chart on the left shows how we have rated each notable quarterback in this year’s draft. The chart on the right may not
look like much, but you’ll find it to be very beneficial during draft day. This chart shows how many points a particular rank
accumulated during the year. In other words, the #1 quarterback in 2025 scored 454 fantasy points, whereas the #2 quarterback
scored 432 points.
If you use this to your advantage when you are drafting, you can decide when you should draft a particular
position based on tiering upon how many points separate the players that follow him. Let’s run through an example to
demonstrate the point. It’s the 1st round and a run on RBs is in full bloom.
The top 3 RBs have just been drafted consecutively right atfter the #2 WR goes
and you are wondering if you should take a RB with the #6 pick. You note that the 5th ranked RB is projected to score 241.5 points
in 2026, whereas the next three RBs are all projected to score between 217 and 227 points. Obviously, the difference between
the 5th RB and the 8th RB is pretty significant. In fact, even the very next (6th) RB, who is projected to score 227.75 points is a pretty pronounced drop form the 241.5 currently on the board.
So, there may be decent value to be had drafting a RB with the #5 pick. That said, you should also note that the #3 WR is projected to score 205.5 points, and the dropoff to #4 WR is 199.75, which is not nearly as steep as the dropoff at RB from RB5 to RB6. Moreover, the decline in projections for the next
several WRs beginning at WR4 are negligible. In fact, only about 10 total fantasy points separates WR3 from WR5. Thus, you are probably better
served drafting a RB here. Note, for example, the considerable gap between the top projected WR (251.75) and the
second rated WR (227.75). As we have been saying, Ja'Marr Chase is in a tier all by himself!
The left hand tables represent projected fantasy ranking at each position
heading into the 2026 season.
Fields (Table 1):
- The first field represents the rank. To identify the projected points scored for
2026, look at the corresponding ranking in the table to the right.
- Player is the name of the player.
- Team is the team that the player plays for in 2026.
- The right hand tables represent the Commish's patented Generic Comparative
Analysis Matrix (GCAM).
Fields (Table 2):
- 2023 is the accumulated weekly point total of Fantasy Points scored in 2023.
- 2024 is the accumulated weekly point total of Fantasy Points scored in 2024.
- 2025 is the accumulated weekly point total of Fantasy Points scored in 2025.
- 2026 is the projected accumulated point total for 2026.
- Average is the average of 2023, 2024, 2025, and projected 2026 total fantasy
points.
