From an NFL perspective, Crosby had the best season of his career in 2019. He converted 22 of his 24 field goal attempts, (91.7 percent). His long for the season was 54 yards. He converted 40 of his 41 extra-point attempts. Crosby's field goal conversion rate was the fifth-best in the NFL. He was perfect inside 40 yards and booted through two game-winners. But thanks to that low number of attempts, the veteran barely cracked the top-15 fantasy options--and it's apt to be more of the same in 2020.
Per Erick Trickel of Mile High Huddle, some of the criticism levied at McManus by fans isn't completely fair. 'Broncos fans loved Matt Prater because he was a very good kicker with the clutch gene, connecting on 141 total field-goal attempts, which included several game-winners, in the Orange and Blue,' Trickel said. 'McManus, to fans, hasn't lived up to those same expectations, despite making the same amount of field goals on just three fewer attempts. Additionally, McManus has made 81.5% of his field goals while legendary Broncos' kicker Jason Elam made 80.6% on his career.' All fantasy owners care about is production--and McManus has been equally inconsistent in that regard. His seventh-place finish last year in Sharks League Scoring is just about his ceiling--his floor is MUCH lower.
As Chris Adamski wrote for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Boswell rebounded in 2019 after a miserable season the year before. 'After missing 12 kicks in 15 games in 2018,' he wrote, 'Boswell was almost perfect last season. His only misses were on field goals, one from 54 yards and another on a badly bobbled snap. Boswell made 57 of his 59 kicks overall.' Boswell was a low-end weekly starter last year in fantasy, and with Ben Roethlisberger back in 2020 he might be able to sneak into the back end of the top-10.
Elliott wasn't especially impressive from a fantasy perspective in 2019, finishing outside the top 20 in fantasy points after checking in 15th in Sharks League Scoring the year before. Last year at least, the slump had more to do with an injury-ravaged offense affording him few opportunities (just 26 FGA) than Elliott himself--his 84.6% success percentage on field goals in 2019 was a career high. If the Philly offense can stay healthier in 2020, Eliott's fantasy production should improve.
